OUR CITY: SKIES, STORIES AND LANDSCAPES FROM THE HIGHEST POINTS OF VIEW A REPORTAGE PROJECT BY GIORGIO SITTA WEBSITE | EXHIBITION | BOOK
Our sky is gray, our sky is sad. Who knows how many times we heard this sentence, or we repeated it ourselves? I have good news: it is not so, Milano is a thousand skies, those clear autumns, which fill the city with colors, those full of clouds, which are magically reflected in the glass of skyscrapers, those “emptied”, white and summer skies and, yes, even the wonderful gray skies, which bring our noisy metropolis back to a more ancient and intimate dimension.
For a long time I wanted to tell these aspects of my city, but I didn’t want to limit myself to a mere aesthetic and landscape operation. In my opinion, landscapes have no meaning, if not seen in relation to human experience. From this consideration the project has evolved over time, which now has a definite connotation for me: telling Milano through the experiences of those who, for work or residence, have a “high” point of view on the city.
Stories from Milano, therefore, stories of streets seen as arteries, squares like pulsating hearts, roofs of buildings, changing skies and, of course, stories of people who live in close contact with this different urban vision. MilanoSkyLovers is also a kind of "social experiment”. In fact, I want to enhance human contact, the desire to tell about ourselves.
The city I love and want to live is open, inclusive, social and open to matching. My “vision from above”, therefore, does not arise from the use of technological tools, such as drones, but from the encounter, the visiting. For each story there will be photographs, but also a brief interview / chat with each MilanoSkyLovers. And from here, of course, an exhibition and a book. Follow this website, which, over time, I will update with photographs and stories.
I AM LOOKING FOR PEOPLE, COMPANIES AND INSTITUTIONS WHO, BY PROFESSION OR RESIDENCE, CAN ATTEND AREAS OF MILAN FROM WHICH THEY HAVE AN AERIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE CITY.
