One of the main ways to speed up the loading of a website’s pages is to optimize their images.
This is even more important for a photographer’s website, in which the right balance between the quality of the photos and their upload speed is a “must obtain“.
After several tests, I’ve adopted the ShortPixel plugin, mainly for its reliability and ease of use.
I chose to optimize the images with a “Glossy” compression, apparent loss of quality, cleansing them from EXIF data, which weighs in on loading.
You can use the bulk function for the first time, optimizing all existing images (the originals will be saved in a backup directory), then ShortPixel will automatically optimize any new uploaded images, depending on your preferences.
Another interesting option is the automated photo conversion from CMYK to RGB.
There are various plans, depending on the amount of images you process each month.
